shepherding call
by DesirousOfChange inyou don't say why you are inactive.. if you can control your tongue and not blurt out anything you have learned about ttatt, then perhaps no harm in agreeing to a visit if you feel the need to be polite and cooperative.
no doubt, they will inquire as to why you are inactive.. don't you know it's the truth(tm)?.
don't you know the end(tm) is close?.

Here's how it will go down. They will pester you until you agree to a visit. You could try and tell them that you'd rather not meet, doing fine thanks but that will raise a small flag. These boys have sniffed out, hunted out and DFed their fair share of apostates. They are experienced and know all of the signs. You could probably fool your local body, but not these cats. At all costs, defer your visit til they're gone.
Other side of the coin: you meet, have a nice family shep visit. They will ask you about your family study schedule. They will ask you how often you pray. Either your answer will be never, or your wife and kid get to sit and watch you LIE to these mens faces. There's no way you can get through a shep visit with them without either giving them too much info, or lying to them. Both are bad outcomes.
In my humble opinion, your best option for the time being is to just take the risk and tell them you're not available until their visit is over. Then when your local elders ask you when would be a good time to pop by, tell them you'd rather not. That should buy you 6 months or so.

WT Says O.K. To Visit With Disfellowshipped Family Members...Discreetly!
by JW GoneBad indiscreetly!.

I used to think that 7 million JWs was a large number
by dogon inthen i saw a stat that made me think differently.
there are 7 million practicing voodoo religion world wide.
about the same as jws, and the big thing is that they do not at all go out and try to convert people at all, not one pamphlet not one tract no door to door calls, phone calls nothing nada.

Come to think of it, could seven million people really handle the cleanup and burial of almost 7 billion carcasses strewn about all over the world? The WT teaches that perfection would be gradual. So they would still be able to contract deadly diseases from our rotting apostate bodies as they attempt to bury us all.
Add to that the fact that they wouldn't likely be allowed to use any heavy equipment for excavation or transportation.
Why didnt I think of this while I was daydreaming at a meeting?

What would be your favorite job if you could do anything.?
by new hope and happiness inon the basis that most of us realise the w.t wasnt really the best " job" or way to spend our days, it would be fun to find out what people would really have liked to have done with there lifes and if this is still possible.
or maybe its not even a very realistic ambition just a dream.
in my dreams i stay at home all day and make a living from being a professional artist.maybe i need a phycholgist?.

I'd like to be a cult leader!
But really, building hot rods in a home garage for a living would be just about perfect.
Or to be a race car driver.
Only one of these 3 will make me filthy rich though.
As it is now I work in a field that gives me plenty of room for advancement, great times, great schedule, great bennies, very secure and I'm very overpaid for what I do. Sooo guess I can't complain.

Caleb asks his Dad a question.
by LogCon incaleb: dad, can i ask you a question?.
dad: of course, my son.
havent i told you that you can come to me whenever you have a question?.
-
Captain Obvious
Hmm. Sounds a lot like my childhood. Ask questions, sure. But only if they are easily answered by looking in the index. Otherwise, they will be met with a berating and dismissed.
Of course, they would deny this if asked today.

How Would Your Being Disfellowshipped Affect You?
by minimus inwould you care?.
would there be any repercussions?.

Captain Obvious
I've realized in the last couple of years that I can live without my parents. In fact, I practically do already. I worry more about losing my relationship with my in laws. Also, it would be hell on my wife for a while. She would stay with and support me, but she does understand that our lives would irrevocably changed.
As for friends, the few I have will see it as a betrayal of their trust. Sounds twisted but they will see me as having lived a lie.
Other than that, of course I will lose the prospect of everlasting life in a paradise panda petting earth.

I hate that my parents ever heard of this religion.
I hate that it is such a hateful religion.
I hate that after being awake for 2.5 years, I still have not succeeded in helping my wife get out.
I hate that I just wasted several days of my life and THOUSANDS of dollars going to the RC.
Vent over.
Other than that, can't complain

org is dying
by lambsbottom ini don't understand why so many ex jws and faders think that the jws will continue to grow and thrive as a religion.
i still attend a meeting once a week and you can smell the death of the religion creeping up when you hear the talks, read the study wts and hear the letters from the gb.
the way the organization has changed is a sign that it reached its peak (in "healthy" membership) long ago.
-
Captain Obvious
Yep I agree with LG. The org is here to stay, unfortunately. They have their mind control techniques down, and will continue to keep our friends and family captive and with "cleansed minds".

Evidence of Ocean of Water in or under Earth's Mantle.... Will people now state this to be proof of the Noah Account?
by adjusted knowledge in"the transition zone can hold a lot of water, and could potentially have the same amount of h2o [water] as all the world's ocean.".
http://news.yahoo.com/found-hidden-ocean-locked-deep-earths-mantle-181204475.html.
i figured when people read this that there will be those claiming proof of the flood story.
-
Captain Obvious
JWs still teach that the earth had a vapour canopy prior to the flood. Seriously. It was actually reiterated by some nutcase on the platform at the recent RC. So JWs won't likely be jumping all over this.
